Acquisitions

You’ve poured time, energy, and heart into building your firm, and you want to ensure it’s left in the right hands. We’re not just a buyer; we understand the value of your clients, team, and legacy.

Seamless integration for you and your clients

Every director has their reason for selling. You might be retiring, seeking a better work-life balance, pursuing new interests, facing regulatory pressures, or wanting to ensure your clients are well cared for by a larger firm. No matter your reason, you must find a buyer and team who share your commitment to client service.

We’re a fast-growing, independent financial planning firm operating since 2016. We will provide a home where your clients and employees are cared for, valued, and supported, just as you’ve always done. As a smaller company, we can complete deals quickly and efficiently, helping you move smoothly into the next phase of your life.

Questions we often get from sellers

How will the acquisition process work?

We will start by having an open discussion around our ethos and the types of businesses we are looking to acquire to grow to see if our values are aligned.

What type of firms are you looking for?

We look for well-managed businesses with a good track record of client satisfaction and service levels. We also seek a good regulatory record and a history of providing good advice and services to clients.

How long does the acquisition process take from start to finish?

The process can take anywhere from three to 18 months depending on the scale and complexity of the business to be acquired, whether it be an asset or share purchase. It will also depend on whether staff are to be retained, alongside any premises that may also form part of the purchase.

When and how do we receive remuneration for the sale?

The deal is usually structured over a two-year deferred period where a percentage of the purchase price is paid upfront, with the remaining instalments usually paid after the first year with the final payment due on month 25. As a smaller firm, however, we can be flexible in our approach.

What will happen to my employees?

We are always keen to recruit experienced colleagues, so we will always look to retain staff where possible and encourage them into the Waterbridge team before exploring other options.
